JHS Speech Takes Third at West Plains

The JHS Speech & Debate team journeyed into new territory as the competed at the West Plains Zizzer Invitational on January 19 and 20. This was the team's first trip to West Plains, which exposed the students to fresh competition.
After two days of speech and debate competition, the Jackson team captured several awards including the Third Place Sweepstakes trophy which recognizes the overall success of the team. Jackson placed behind two nationally recognized programs from the Springfield area.
Individual winners included:
Grace Blades - Fourth place Prose Reading and seventh place Duet acting
Bethany Elfrink - Sixth place Storytelling
Bethany Parry - Seventh place Duet Acting and Eighth place Original Oratory
Cat Buress - First place Poetry Reading
Whitney Tankersley - First place Storytelling
Tyler Holman - Third place Radio Speaking and Quarterfinalist in Public Forum Debate
Andrew Lorenz - Quarterfinalist in Public Forum Debate
The team, coached by Mr. Bob Clubbs and Ms. Joyce Theiss, competes at Cape Central on February 1.
